Mondays are hard, so let’s conquer them with music!
I love music; I listen to music in the car, at work, and it is also part of my writing process. Sometimes a scene may be inspired by a song or I find songs that relate to what I have written; either way I always have a separate playlist for each project I’m working on in addition to a master playlist of all the songs I come across and enjoy listening to. Thank you Spotify!
On Mondays I will share one song that I’m currently in love with, has inspired me, or relates to one of my projects.
Thanks for joining me for Music Monday! Today’s song is Lullaby by Dixie Chicks. I discovered this song shortly after my daughter was born. It is so beautiful; I was looking for some songs to play for her and sing to her. I had never heard this one, and It instantly resonated with me. Becoming a mom completely changes me in amazing ways. I love my daughter more than anything and I can just look at her and feel more love and happiness than I have ever experiences before. She makes every day exceptional. This song is about that unconditional love.
“How long do you wanna be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you wanna be loved
Is forever enough
‘Cause I’m never, never giving you up”

Taylor Sullivan took her life for granted until she received news that would change her life forever. In a state of denial she met Kyle, who didn’t end up being what she expected. She wasn’t able to escape her new reality, but with his friendship, just maybe she could survive it.

This Monday’s I’m cheating, I’m not only talking about a single song but also want to discuss an entire album: Cry Pretty by Carrie Underwood. The Song with the same title is definitely worth mentioning as well since I’ve listened to it a ton! Carrie just released this new album and I’m enjoying it, I don’t have a favorite to pick out necessarily, but Carrie is one of those artists where I can enjoy listening to the entire album instead of only a song or two. There are some artists I only like a few songs of their work and am not adding the others to my playlist. I found myself adding every single song to my master playlist as I listed for the first time. Go on and give this album or at least the single of the same name a listen and see if you find yourself doing the same!
This Monday’s song is Middle of a Memory by Cole Swindell. I’ve loved this song since the very first time I heard it. I was instantly able to imagine a vivid scene when listening to this song, which gave me a story idea that I haven’t written yet. So many story ideas, so little time! I have the idea written down, so hopefully in the future I can give it a shot :
This Monday’s song is Get To You by Michael Ray. I’m choosing this song because as soon as I heard it on the radio the first time I was hooked, I was in the car, so I kept repeating the title in my head until I got home and could look it up and add it to my playlist. I immediately added it to my Breaking Pointe playlist because it fit some emotions my characters experience through the book. I then repeatedly listened to the song!
