logo-6ee0b6e5e6f4e75cb1084236f7e3a294In about 39 days, I am publishing my first novel! WOW! That is pretty crazy and intense, so naturally I decided to sign up for the Camp NaNoWriMo event beginning April 1st, 2014. That means while I’m frantically getting ready to publish my novel, I will be frantically writing another book. Good thing I do well under pressure. This will give me a chance to work on Blood Red Sky, a story that I have written the first chapter to, and have wanted to continue for some time now. I am extremely excited! You can even add Blood Red Sky on Goodreads!

Blood Red Sky Synopsis:

Kaylie couldn’t wait to turn 18, so she could be an adult and do whatever she wanted. Now all she wants is to go back in time and be with her family and live by their rules.

The world around her is engulfed in blood and fire, an image she would never forget even if it ceased to exist. With another life to protect, she has to fight for them both to survive in a world that now has no rules.

Are you participating in Camp NaNoWriMo? Add me if you are! My username is: christiewriting. See you at Camp!

Haily Carter lie on her bed exhausted for no reason at all. The summer was almost over, and she didn’t have much to show for it. She barley hung out with her friends because she was always tired, which she couldn’t explain because she got plenty of sleep. Haily looked at herself in the mirror disgusted. She didn’t even like to wear shorts or tank tops anymore because she has so many bruises. She looked at them puzzled and traced them with her fingertips. Where did these all come from? She questioned to herself. It seemed like every day she had a new bruise that just seemed to appear.

Throw Back Thursday!

This is the opening paragraph to the first story that I began writing. I believe I started it somewhere between seventh and eighth grade.

Rain Quote 4-2

“Uh, got into a fight with the kitchen or something?” he asked, smirking.

I ran my hands through my hair and felt remains of the fruit as I did and cringed. Well, this must be attractive. I motioned for him to come into the living room and shut the door behind him.

“Something like that,” I replied coolly.

He walked past me and went to the kitchen, probably to get a better look. “Well, I see you won. The fruit won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Maybe the apples. Those look like they need some more killing.”

Rain Quote 3

“There is a flaw to your plan.” A sly grin crept onto his face once again.

My eyebrow arched at him questioningly.

“I live across the street,” he told me; and, without another word, he turned around toward his house. Then I realized what he’d meant. I’d told my problems to a stranger I would probably see again.

Rain Quote 2-3I was about to sit down when Kyle’s hand wrapped around my left wrist lightly and pulled up my arm. The suddenness of his touch was startling. I looked at him, confused, and saw fire in his eyes—raw anger I didn’t understand. His eyes looked up at me and penetrated mine.

Ashley’s palms started sweating as she clutched her paper in her hand. The room was going in and out of focus as she tried to speak, “I–uh–I,” she stammered. Everyone was looking at her as they started laughing, not even trying to hold back.
